How to - Diaper Cake!

I love making diaper cakes, and it isn't as hard as it looks!

Things you need:
-A box of diapers of your choice
-Coordinating ribbons
-Rubber bands
-Scissors
-Hot glue gun
-Push pins (optional)
-Any embellishments that go with your theme

First start off by laying your diaper on the floor and rolling it up.

Next step will be putting the rubber band around the diaper to hold it in it's rolled shape. Be sure to not wrap the rubber bands to tight as it can cause slight damage to the diapers.

Once I got most of the diapers rolled this is the stack I had! Diaper mania :)

Once you get all your diapers rolled, it's time to start stacking them. Depending on how big you want your cake and how many diapers you are going to use this will change the look of your cake.
Start by putting 6 diapers together and wrapping a rubber band around them to bind them together.
Once you have that just keep adding diapers into the rubber band around the middle 6 diapers to keep it round. Keep doing this until you get the size you want, then start again for your other layers. For my cake I did 3 layers but if you're going to use more than one box of diapers you could certainly make your cake 5-6 layers tall!

**Now the fun begins, decorating!!**

- The first thing I did since I was going to be adding a name I panted the small wooden letters I was using green, to ensure they'd be dry once I was ready to put them on

  • I then started adding my ribbons. As you can see I secured the first layer of ribbon with a push pin, so it wouldn't slip because you do not want to put any hot glue on the diapers!
  • After you have your ribbon in place hot glue the seams down really good so you have no frays or a chance of it slipping off.
  • Once you have your bottom layer of ribbon down you can just hot glue your second ribbon onto the first ribbon and the third ribbon on to the second ribbon and so on, no need for pins after the first ribbon.

Now that you have all your ribbon on, just add the rest of your decorations and you're done!

Because I was transporting this to a baby shower I decided to wrap it in cellophane (you can find this in a big roll in the floral crafting section at walmart for $3!) so I could carry it around easier and it looks adorable!
